Medium Panel Trim Sign Frame Kit (Frame Only)
Our aluminium medium Panel Trim has a cover face of 35mm and is the most popular in the range by far, making it suitable for all but the smallest or largest of signs.
The kit includes all four sides pre-drilled & mitred, the corner cleats set into the side pieces, and fixing screws & rawlplugs so that all you have to do is fix it to the wall.
Panel Size
We manufacture the kit to the size you specify, so:-
- If you frame size is 1000 x 500mm, then:
- Your panel should be 15mm less in both directions. 985 x 485mm
- The viewable size will be 70mm less in both directions. 930 x 430mm
If your sign is less than say 400mm deep or larger if it's going inside, you may want to consider our Small Panel Trim which has a slimmer profile.
Equally, if your panel is very deep - or located in a windy situation, you should probably think about our Large Panel Trim framing because it has a cover face of 45mm.
Panel Thickness
Medium Panel Trim frames will take either 3mm or 5mm thick panels, such as ACM, Acrylic or PVC Foam.
Hanger Strip
It is best practice to suspend the panel from the top rail using a 'hanger strip' so that it will always hang straight & flat.
If you just stand the panel in the bottom rail there is a danger that it may become distorted due to its weight, particularly in the summer when the panel can get very hot & lose its rigidity. This sort of problem is more likely when the panel is Acrylic or Foam PVC. However, even if you're using ACM, it's still better to use Hanger Strips because then the bottom of the panel doesn't get stuck in the build-up of dirt in the bottom frame, making it easier to get them in & out in the future.
We stock Anodised Silver, and powder-coated black and white, or we can powder coat to your specific colour.
Panel Locks
If your sign Is longer than a single panel, you should use a pair of panel locks to keep the panels together to ensure no gaps appear between the sheets.
TIPS
- Remember that the panel needs to be loose enough to allow it to expand in the summer & contract in the winter without becoming trapped & then distorted. Hence, we suggest that your panel be 15mm less than the overall frame size and that you notch the corners as shown to prevent the panel from nipping in the corners.
- If your sign is made up of more than one panel you really should 'half lap' the joint and fit anti-flex plates & put 'Panel Locks' at the top. This is to keep the panels tight together at all times, which looks better and also prevents the wind from getting behind the panels, which can risk blowouts.
A run of grease along the hanger strip & on the frame where it touches the panel makes it easier to get in & out in the future.
PanelTrim Profiles
What are Panel Trim sign frames?
Panel Trim sign frames are aluminium extrusion systems designed to hold and secure rigid sign panels. The main reasons for using a Panel Trim frame are that there are no face fixings spoiling the look of the sign and the panel hangs flat without any ‘cockles’ or dimples around the screws. Commonly used for outdoor and commercial applications, they ensure durability and a professional finish.
Do I need to order any fixings with your frames?
The Panel Trim frame kits come complete with all the Rawlplugs, screws and corner cleats required for installation.
Why would I want the expense of a Sign Frame for my sign ?
A frame is ‘value adding’ to your sign panel. The perceived value for your customer is higher than the actual cost, which increases your profit margin.
What tools do I need?
You’ll need a drill with the bit appropriate to your wall, a screwdriver and a level.
How easy are they to fit?
Panel Trim is very easy and quick to fit.
The frame comes as a complete kit with everything you need. The frames are pre drilled and come with the corner cleats already inserted. All you need to do is drill the wall, insert the supplied Rawlplugs and the screw the frame to the wall. Then slide your sign panel in and then fix the loose end in place. View the fitting instructions here.
How quickly can I get my frame?
Panel Trim frames are cut to size, we generally can dispatch the following day from ordering. If you have a deadline, call us on 01524 841726 to confirm the dispatch time for your order.
Are there different finish options for panel trim frames?
Yes, Panel Trim frames are available in standard finishes like anodized silver, black and white. Custom RAL colours can be ordered but this will add up to 10 days to the manufacturing time.
I’m hoping to order several frames together, is there a discount?
If all the frames are the same size, the quantity discount is shown on the product page.
If the frames are different sizes, please call the office on 01524 841726 or email sales@tradesignz.com for a quote.
What optional accessories are available with panel trim sign frames?
We offer several accessories, including:
• Hanger Strips: For additional support when mounting panels.
• Anti-Flex Plates: To prevent bowing of large panels in windy conditions.
• Panel Locks: To secure panels and prevent unauthorized removal.
I want to make my own frames, can I just buy the extrusions and parts from you & what tools do I need?
Yes, we supply the extrusion in either 3 or 5 metre lengths and the corner cleats in packs of 4 together with panel locks & anti flex plates. You can mix your order of sizes of profiles and colours but will need to contact the office for quantity discounts.
Essentially, you could fabricate your frames with a hacksaw and a mitre block, but a good quality mitre chop saw with an aluminium cutting blade will be quicker and more accurate.
Can I have a sample to show my customer ?
Yes of course. We can send you a pack of samples of each size and profile. Just pay £9.00 postage or you can order a samples display panel for £16.99, which is redeemable against your first order.
What are FlexiFace panel trim frames, and how are they different?
FlexiFace frame is a two part framing system that’s designed to hold a flexible PVC printed skin or banner using a simple plastic trim clip. It’s really simple and once the frame is installed, the skin can be changed in minutes using only a flat screwdriver and a sharp knife.
